I don’t know about you, but Banana Bread is basically my go-to whenever we have overripe bananas lying around the house, and this weekend, we had a lot of overripe bananas! (I may or may not have been a little too overly enthusiastic when I was buying them,) but no matter, I decided to put them to good use. Instead, however, of just making a classic recipe, I decided to spice things up a bit! Do you know what makes banana bread amazing? Chocolate and Peanut Butter! Do ya know what this banana bread has? Chocolate and Peanut Butter! As my brother says, “This ain’t your grandmas Banana Bread!” Nope, it’s Chocolate, Peanut Butter, Banana Bread!
This Banana Bread, is LOADED. It’s moist, fudgy, peanut-buttery (I definitely just made that word up, but it’s fine) and it’s absolutely delicious! I mean if we’re being honest, I basically love anything with chocolate and peanut butter! It’s a regular part of my daily diet, and this banana bread combines it all in one! A bunch of goodness! Also, did I mention how this banana bread pairs well with ice cream or yogurt? It’s like a healthier brownie! I’m probably way too excited about this, but it’s pretty dang good. Okay, let’s get to the good part, how to make this delicious goodness!

For the Banana Bread
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a separate bowl, mash the three bananas with a fork, then add in the peanut butter, oil, brown sugar, vanilla, egg, milk, and vinegar. Combine the wet and dry ingredients.
- Line your loaf pan with parchment paper. Pour the batter into the loaf tin. Dump in the half cup of chocolate chips, and use a spatula to mix them into the batter.
For the Topping
- In a microwave safe bowl, combine half of the peanut butter and half the milk. Microwave for one minute. Stir together, it’ll get thick like a paste. Add in the remaining peanut butter and milk, then add in the powdered sugar, and stir until the mixture thickens.
- Add the other half cup of chocolate chips to another microwave safe bowl, microwave for one minute, until melted. Stir until smooth.
- Pour the peanut butter mixture on top of the banana bread batter. Use a fork to smooth it out. Then pour the melted chocolate on top of the peanut butter. Use a fork to swirl it into the batter. Bake for 40 minutes, or until a toothpick can be inserted into the middle and comes out clean..
- Remove from the oven, and let cool 10 minutes. Use a knife to go around the edge of the pan, to loosen the bread. Remove the loaf from the pan. Slice and eat! (Or save it for later, that works too.)
This fudgy banana bread goes well with vanilla ice cream, or served alongside classic Greek yogurt. Choose your own journey!
